I always prefer to use Google Chrome to browse website, write posts and surfing. Because it’s fastest web browser I have ever used. However one browser is not enough for me. I need another browser to browse, surf and work. I would prefer Mozilla Firefox for the same. I prefer to use Mozilla Firefox along with Google Chrome to surf fastly and read so many blogs, websites and all. I have observed that Firefox little-bit working slower than Google Chrome. Sometime you also have observed the same. Here is the little trick that would help you to speed up Firefox like Google Chrome.

How to speed up Mozilla Firefox Browser

This is not any hacking trick, but you can use Firefox as power user. All you have to do is just configure your FireFox and reset it to followed setting. You would see increase in speed performance of your Firefox browsers.

Disable Useless Add-ons & Plugins

Some of Firefox plugins uses corrupted scripts or without updates. They create too much heavy load on your browser’s performance. You can disable or remove such plugins from your Firefox. If you don’t know from where you can remove unwanted plugins, you can go to add-ons file and from there, go to plugins and extension tab. From there disable or remove unwanted plugins you don’t use.

You can alternatively use Nils Maier’s Firefox plug-in called about:addons-memory.  It actually shows you which plug-ins or add-ons are consuming the more memory. This would give you idea which plugins or extension you have to disable or remove.  You don’t even have to restart your browser after installing it.

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options
  3. Select the Advanced panel.
  4. Click on the Network tab.
  5. In the Cached Web Content section, click Clear Now.
  6. Click OK to close the Options window.

Clear Recent History :

When your browser’s performance you see down, most common way to recover it is rebooting computer. When you restart your computer, you would see fresh look and performance improvement on overall speed of your computer.

Recommended way is to clear cache & history. You can press Ctrl+Shift+Del button together to  open that clear recent history window. Check the box you want to clear cache from and click on clear now. it would remove your browsing history completely or partially depending on your requirement.

What kind of data you can clear :

Browsing & Download History : This history saved on your browser. When you visit any website or download something from your browser, it stored on history.

Form & Search History : You might have noticed sometime when you fill up any form on the web, sometimes automatically your name or mail address would be suggested. When you search something on web, it’s also saved in search history.

Cookies & Cache : Cookie is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user’s web browser while the user is browsing that website. Every time the user loads the website, the browser sends the cookie back to the server to notify the website of the user’s previous activity.

A web cache is a mechanism for the temporary storage (caching) of web documents, such as HTML pages and images, to reduce bandwidth usage, server load, and perceived lag.

Active Logins : You might have seen, when you logged on Facebook or other sites, and you are restarting your computer, you would see logged in. You would not have to login second time. Your browser stores your active logins on the site you are leaving without log out. It’s recommended to clear active login because if your computer is being accessed by someone else, your logged in sites would not ask for password from that user. They directly able to see your logged in accounts.

Offline Website Data : Offline website data is similar to cookie. Sometime you save any webpage or data, so entire site would be downloaded on your computer.It saves images, contents, scripts and save entire webpage for offline usage.

Depending on your needs, you can uncheck the box and clear history from your browser to boost it’s performance.

Allow Firefox To Automatically Clear Cache :

It is recommended that you set your Firefox in such a way that it automatically clear all caches and browsing history. So you would not have to clear cache and history all the time you leave browser or open browser.

Just type “about:support” in your Mozilla address bar, and you will see Firefox setting. At the top sidebar, you will see reset Firefox option. Click on that to restore Firefox to it’s default state.

Run Firefox in Safe Mode :

While opening Firefox browser, press shift button and then open. Your browser would be opened in safe mode.When It opens in safe mode, all extension (add-on), theme, or plugin would be disable and you can enjoy faster browsing speed than usual. You can directly reset Firefox from there for quick reset Firefox.

Advanced Setting to Improve Performance :

Well, be careful to use this setting. You can type ” about:config ” without quote on your browser’s address bar. You can configure your Firefox setting as mentioned to increase and boost performance. Search for ” network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server ” & change value from 6 to 8.

-Search for network.http.pipelining & set option as true.

-Search for network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and set it to 8.

Search for network.dns.disableIPv6 & set it to true.
