Last time I did a job for my client which I didn’t know.My job was to creating sub domain and install another CMS on that sub domain. It seems like easy task and I was thinking so. but main problem arises when I came to know that his main blog is on blogspot.com & now he want to install another CMS say wordpress.
If you don’t know about How to Create a Subdomain on your hosting account, here is the detailed tutorial that will help you to Create Subdomains on Your Website.Let me explain in detail, his site name is www.example.com that was hosted on blogspot.com while he want to create his subdomin say blog.example.com and want to install WordPress system on it. I did not done this task before but I took this job saying client that If I can do this than only I will charge otherwise I will not.
The overall procedure was to creating subdomain from hosting account & adding subdomain A records on domain account, than pointing that subdomain to hosting ip address.
Lets start with the first point, that is already explained on how to create/delete subdomain on hosting account.
Now come to the second point, that is creating A records on domain account manager. On domain account, go to DNS management tab > Manage DNS link. I was using Bigrock, so explaining this all steps in my bigrock account.
Go to A Records tab, where you will see some details to be filled. In Host name, add the sub domain name which you have already created in your hosting account. For example, I have created blog.ehowportal.com sub domain from my hosting account, than I will need to add blog at hosting name box.
Destination IPv4 address is the IP address of your hosting account. If you do not know your hosting account IP address, you can contact your hosting provider for your hosting account IP address.keep TTL value default as it is.Now click on add record button, so that the subdomain with blog.example.com will be created in your domain account.
Once it has been created, go to blog.example.com, you will start seeing your hosting account image on that domain. If its not and you are seeing server not found, wait for 2-3 hours.
After DNS propagation, it will be updated and you will start seeing your hosting account banner on it. Once you start seeing your hosting account banner on that subdomain you just created, your suddomain has pointed to your hosting account and you ca install any CMS on that subdomain.
The same thing you can apply and install as many subdomains as your domain provider gives you and install any CMS. This is only one subdomain I pointed to my Bluehost account, however if you are thinking to host one subdomain on bluehost and one subdomain on hostgator, you can. All you need to do is pointing your subdomain to your exact hosting account. That’s all.
