1. Search :
The first process to do is to find a topic that has not been yet published on Wikipedia. For this, you can use the search box at the top right corner of the Wikipedia page. In the search box, type in keywords of the topic that you would like to write about and hit enter. If there are any articles that has been published on the topic you entered, it must be shown in the search results. If not, you can use the topic to write your new article for Wikipedia.
2. Research :
The next part of the process is to research about the topic that you would like to write on. After you choose the title for your article, the first thing to check is that whether the topic is worthy enough for the public. If yes, then start researching on the same topic. Refer to books, online sources and also trace out the history of the topic you choose. After you have thoroughly researched and prepared down your notes, you are then ready to start the process to write down the article on Wikipedia.
3. Start Writing :
On the search results page, click on the ‘Create This Article’ tab and then click on the ‘Start The Article’ tab.
Before you start to write, you will be prompted to either log in or create a Wikipedia account in-order to start writing. Articles written by anonymous users won’t be publicized until a registered user verifies the article.
-After signing in to your account, navigate to the user page.
-Userpage is the place where your articles will be saved prior to publishing.
-Click on the ‘Create’ tab to start a new article.
-Now a big text area should appear.
-Now you can start writing your article.
-After completion, click the save button and you’re done.
4. Proofread :
Proofreading the article [s] that you save for submission is recommended in order to avoid any spelling, grammar or data errors that may have occurred in your article. Such mistakes will make it hard for readers to read your article comfortably. So in order to avoid such problems, you should always proofread your articles before submission.
Final Words :
Before you attempt to write an article in Wikipedia, always make sure that the topic does not already exist in the Wikipedia directory. After you select your topic, do all kind of necessary researches. Make notes of these researches. Make sure to include important dates related to your topic within the article.
For example, if you are talking about a product, mention when was the product launched and by whom and whatever improvements has happened to the product since it’s launch.
After researching, start writing your article. Make you’re article look professional. Turn down your articles into smaller paragraphs. And after writing, always do a proof-reading in order to avoid any spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes.
I hope this article has given you the idea to write your own article on Wikipedia.
