Google Analytics is the genuine way to measure the traffic potential of any website.Suppose if you are a webmaster of website and you wish to track the traffic status of website, the first thing comes in the mind to do that is Google Analytics. The main reason is that it is available free service from Google and you can track real time visits, conversation rate, bounce rate, traffic source from search engines(Organic visitors),paid visitors and lots more. You can intigrate your Google adsense account with Analytics account to track ad performance (CTR, CPM, revenue, etc.)
The problematic thing is when it counts your own pageviews and shows the data in your account.Suppose if you are making some ad split test or applying new theme on your website,so you might check your website again & again. Analytics is counting your pageviews that time also & thus the actual pageviews of your blog might be hidden by this.To prevent counting own pageviews in Google analytics, Google provide the seperate options in analytics account. You can follow the steps to prevent counting own webpage views on your website.
Step-1.Login to your Google analytics account and there open the website profiles. At the bottom of the page, you will see the filter manager option as provided in the screenshot below.
Step-2.The next step is to adding filter in your Analytics account,so the filter manager option will redirect you a page where you have to choose add filter option from there.
By using that option, you can easily filter out particular IP addresses, include traffic from a subdomain or subdirectory only, or create custom filters for more advanced requirements.
Step-3.Now, you have to apply filter on the domain on which you wish not to count own pageviews there.Add the filter name there & domain name.Choose the appropriate options in the menu and create new filter in your analytics account.
Here we wish to prevent counting own pageviews,so we need to add our IP address in the filter list,so analytics will exclude the IP address from tracking and this way your own pageviews count will be prevented from the account. So choose the following option.Filter type>Exclude>Traffic from the IP address>That are equal to.You can know your own IP address from whatismyipaddress.com
Now choose the option save changes and you have done.If you are own multiple website, you can add all the website there and then Google analytics will no longer be tracking your own pageviews on all those website. This way the analytics data reach to you will be more valid & actual. If you are running your website from more than two IP address(e.g. office & home), you can set two IP address there to exclude counting own pageviews.
