Most Google Chrome users are generally satisfied with their choice of a web browser. Chrome is fast, reliable and rather customizable owing to various extensions. Surfing the web is fast, and downloading files isn’t a chore either. However, when you get down to downloading torrents, Chrome becomes useless and you have to use a bittorrent client, such as uTorrent. Wouldn’t it be more convenient if your browser could also download torrents? For that purpose there is a pumped-up version of Chrome browser, and it’s called Citrio.
Citrio Browser based on Chromium, which can do everything Chrome does, and much more. Especially in terms of torrent downloads. Here are several tips on how to use Citrio browser for downloading and managing your torrents.
Torrents and Regular Downloads at the Same Time
Citrio has a built-in download manager which can speed up regular downloads. It can also download torrents and magnet links. Torrents downloading takes place side-by-side with the regular downloads, so if you’re downloading multiple files at the same time, you can conveniently manage them in the same window.
Choose what to Download
Usually, most torrents contain more than one file, and you might not always need them all. Whenever you download torrents or magnet links with Citrio, you have the option to select which files to download and which to ignore.
You don’t have to make a choice immediately. Even once the download process has started, you can edit the content of the torrent, excluding the files you’ve decided not to download, or adding the ones you’ve missed before.
See the Progress for Each File
A great thing about torrents is that in case the torrent contains multiple files, you don’t need to wait for all of them to be downloaded to view or play them. If a single file has been completely downloaded, you can already open it.
By clicking the “Show loaded files” option under the torrents progress bar, you’ll see the list of all files within the torrent, along with the download progress of each file in percentage. This will let you track which files are already downloaded and can now be accessed.
Pause and Resume
Just like any regular BitTorrent client, Citrio allows you to pause the download at any time. For example, the torrent you’re downloading is using all your bandwidth, and you can’t buffer an online video to watch.

To let that video buffer, you can use the Pause button at any given moment to suspend the torrent download. Once everything is ready, and you don’t need to download anything else, just unpause the download to finish it.
Play Video while Downloading It
If you often download video files via torrent clients, you probably know that you have to wait until they’ve finished downloading to play the video without stuttering. This nuisance does not exist in Citrio.
When you’re downloading a video file, you can stream and play it. Once Citrio has downloaded at least 10% of a video file, the Play button becomes clickable, and you can watch the video while it’s still downloaded. You won’t be able to skip further than the parts you’ve downloaded, but if you are going to watch the video from the beginning to the end, you won’t notice any difference.
This feature is not fully exclusive to torrents. If you’re downloading a video file, you’ll have the option to extract an audio file out of it once the download is complete. This may prove useful if you wish to extract music out of the video clips, or turn lectures into speech-only MP3 files.
So if you’re looking for a browser with a built-in and ready-to-use torrent download manager, Citrio is a perfect solution.
